OUCH!

It's been over 2 months since I've posted here. One of my New Years Resolutions is to update this blog at least once a week.
This is the last week of 2009. I'm on vacation and Jessica is at daycare so Don & I have a nice little vacation with time to clean & organize this house a bit and to just spend some time together. We've also been doing some after Christmas shopping and taking advantage of the sales. I'm most excited about the new Disney Christmas Village for next year. We purchased 2 houses & 3 smaller pieces.

UNIQUE

I felt whimsical this past weekend. I found this cute little penguin & fell in love with him. He is proudly displayed on a shelf in the living room, aka The Florida Room. I really need to finish painting the woodwork in that room! I also found this wood sign that pretty much says it all. It's going to hang in the kitchen, aka Margaritaville.

Fabulous Find

Started back to work today. Summer went by so fast. Too fast! As I went to pack my lunch this morning, I realized that I forgot to buy a new lunch bag. Using Kroger bags or Walmart bags just isn't cool. My goal is to take my lunch every day this year. I refuse to eat that bad-for-you food in the school cafe or fast food that makes my butt 10 sizes bigger! Of course, I won't be able to resist the office pot luck, but those days are few & far between. After work, I had to run to Walmart to pick up some school supplies for the office & found the cutest little polka dot lunch bag. Looks just like a little purse. I'm SUPER excited about carrrying it tomorrow!

Berry Yummy!

My Dad called and told me that he had made some egg salad & had a bowl waiting with my name on it. Didn't take long for me to be on the road. My Dad is the best cook and when he says he has left overs, I'm at their house lickity split! As soon as I walked in the back door, I spotted another surprise. Sitting on the table was his homemade blueberry bundt cake. OMG! To die for!He said he'd make one next week for me to bring home.
I can't wait until next week!

TANKED

Since ours plans to move to Florida seem to have gone bust for now, Don & I decided to bring Florida to us. We redecorated the living room in a "Florida" theme. Still have to get the carpet cleaned, add baseboard, add a palm tree, & white collage photo frames, but it's getting there. Don thought it would be a cool idea to add an aquarium (salt water). It took a few days to set up. Don did all his research. He's so good at stuff like that! The aquarium came with one fish. A black & white damsel(Alphie). After a few days we added 2 clown fish (Nemo & Marlin). A few days later we added 2 blue damsels (Marg & Rita). Apparently Alphie must be territorial. He's already killed Marlin & Rita. Damn Alphie. You can't have Marg without Rita!!

Back to the Grind

Started back to school today after a VERY short summer, or so it seems. The alarm clock was NOT my friend. It was a short day (3 hrs+) and all it consisted of was handing out schedules. Wed & Thurs. will be the same. Actually don't start full days until the 26th. I'm SUPER excited about finally painting my office after 4 yrs. Institutional gray is NOT cheery at all. I've opted for a dark turquoise color. Simply because it was on the clearance rack at Lowe's. The top 1/2 is already white, so the turquoise will just go on the lower half. I'd rather paint it pink/black but I don't think that would fly.

A Taste of Summer....

Happy Monday! I had plans of spending the day in the pool, but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans. I did get to spend almost 2 hours in the beautiful sun before the clouds rolled in. I decided to hit the junk store afterwords. Got some goodies. (Gap & Old Navy pants, a black blazer, & a Salty Dog t-shirt!). For dinner, I chowed on some Margaritaville Island Lime Tortilla's w/ salsa & Con Queso in Paradise Dip. A well rounded dinner to me!
